Day 1 of the
@ICT4DConference Happening in Nairobi, Kenya, was electric as tech leaders and development practitioners gather to shape the future of digital development and responsible AI!
The Welcome Addresses The conference kicked off with a powerful call-to-action on localizing digital public infrastructure.
@NoraLindstroem (Senior Director of Digital Programming at Catholic Relief Services), alongside representatives from the Nairobi City Government, officially welcomed global delegates and set an urgent tone: we must move past just collecting data and focus on using it responsibly to drive real local action.
The main plenary keynote set the stage on a critical theme: AI and the Power Dynamics in Development and Humanitarian Response. Global tech and development pioneers took the stage to challenge the industry, stressing that inclusive technology must be intentionally designed to empower marginalized communities and shift traditional global funding dynamics.
Following the opening plenaries, the floor opened for interactive tracks. As an exhibitor, the
@equalyz_ai team is officially locked in! We are excited to dive into the Tripartite Impact Model during the breakout session.
Our Workshop “Data Agentic AI and Digital Public Infrastructure for Local Impact: A Tripartite Impact Model for Digital Transformation in Low-Resource Context.” sparked an incredible insight.
The Lightning Talks by Diana Sang on governance and last-mile decision-making in agentic AI, Dr. Elizabeth Wamicha, PhD Call on Digital Public Infrastructure as a backbone for coordinated public action, and Alfred Ongere
@Impact_chaser submission on leadership-driven AI upskilling, together reinforced that impactful AI systems are not just built but intentionally governed, connected, and led to achieve real-world public impact.
Day 2 of the conference promises to be greater.
