I look forward to this very important presentation in #EHA2026 about value of transplant in TP53 mutated #MDSsm and #AMLsm. The results clearly indicate a tail at end of curve and around 20% 23-year OS even among biallelic TP53mut patients, and especially in those with lower blast counts. Do NOT deprive patients from the opportunity of transplant without a very well-informed discussion! Patients with KPS >80 had an estimated 3-year OS of 49.3%, compared with 30.2% for KPS ≤80. Biallelic TP53 was associated with inferior survival (HR 4.05, 95% CI 1.76–9.32; p=0.001) (figure 1b), reaching statistical significance only in the MDS subgroup. A low blast count at diagnosis was associated with improved survival (HR 0.50, 95% CI 0.29–0.88; p=0.02). No clear associations were observed for age, HCT-CI, donor type, conditioning intensity or ATG. NRM did not differ significantly between MDS and AML (figure 1c). We need influential medical experts to be active here on X. We can help by providing good medical information and updates for patients and colleagues. We can network. We can counter misinformation. Clarify complex questions. Share accomplishments and publications. And more. I learn every day. Although X has is not the same as the amazing platform Twitter used to be, it’s still the Number one social media platform for medicine. I’m happy to be here.

Clinical trials: Easy to criticize. Hard to do.
So, you want to lead a randomized trial? I ran a poll: How many people have near veto power over the approval & design of an investigator initiated oncology randomized trial? Only 23% guessed right. Answer: >50! @RielyMD @mtmdphd Here are the steps to do an RCT? Thread 1/

Florida Man doesn’t ask for permission. He just straps on a jet-propelled hoverboard, hooks up his dog to a jet ski, and goes for a Sunday cruise like it’s completely normal. This is why the rest of the country will never understand us. Peak Florida. Never change.

CONGRESS | #EBMT26 | PRESENTATION A Samer Al-Homsi presents interim results from the phase I-IIb ABC trial, evaluating PTCy dose reduction in patients receiving calcineurin- and mTOR inhibitor-free #GvHD prophylaxis with PTCy bortezomib abatacept (N = 60). PTCy dose was reduced from 50 mg/kg to 37.5 mg/kg. Reduced-dose vs full-dose PTCy was associated with faster neutrophil and platelet engraftment (15 vs 17 days; p = 0.004 and 22 vs 25.5 days; p = 0.04, respectively). No primary or secondary graft failure occurred. There were no differences in CD3 , CD4 or CD8 cell recovery between the two PTCy groups. By Day 180, the estimated cumulative incidences of Grade II-IV #aGvHD were 4.0% with full-dose PTCy and 11.8% with reduced-dose PTCy (p = 0.29). The 1-year estimated cumulative incidences of moderate and severe #cGvHD were 12% and 9.5% with full- and reduced-dose PTCy, respectively (p = 0.87). At 1 year, OS and GRFS were 91.3% and 70.9%, respectively. Follow our live feed for more updates: bit.ly/4lyVG9v Intended for HCPs only. Great to be at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville with First Lady @CaseyDeSantis today to announce the launch of the only carbon ion therapy program in the Western Hemisphere—a major milestone for cancer care in Florida and nationwide. Our administration is committed to fighting cancer by making targeted investments in innovative therapies that have the potential to save lives. During my time as governor, we’ve increased funding for cancer research and treatment programs by more than 114 percent. The Casey DeSantis Cancer Research Program has strengthened Florida’s position as a national leader in cancer research and innovation. We’re proud that Mayo Clinic chose Florida as the home for this groundbreaking initiative, and we look forward to seeing how these cutting-edge therapies give hope to patients fighting some of the most aggressive and treatment-resistant cancers.

Mayo Clinic’s doctors and researchers are on the front lines of Florida’s fight against cancer. Today, we were happy to announce that Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville will be launching the first carbon ion therapy program in America. Carbon ion therapy, one of the most advanced forms of radiation treatment in the world, is designed to attack some of the most aggressive and treatment-resistant cancers. This cutting-edge treatment has the potential to save lives and give hope to those who need it most. Proton therapy will also be available in the same facility, allowing specialists to treat tumors with a higher degree of precision. While carbon ion therapy was originally discovered in the United States decades ago, it has only been available at a limited number of centers in Asia and Europe until now. Soon, cancer patients will have access to therapies that previously required traveling across the world, right here in Florida.
