On precise intelligence inputs, the Special Task Force (STF) conducted extensive raids across multiple locations near Sarberia Bazaar in Kumrakhali, Basanti, and Sandeshkhali areas. Forces have successfully seized a massive cache of illegal firearms and ammunition hidden away to disrupt peace. I highly appreciate the prompt actions and exemplary coordination of the DGP; West Bengal Police, the STF Team and Basirhat Police District Personnel for this successful operation. For years under the previous regime, such illegal weapons were stockpiled and used ruthlessly to terrorize common citizens. This culture of violence claimed the precious lives of numerous opposition party workers, particularly dedicated BJP Karyakartas, who stood up against tyranny. Those dark days are over. Our Government remains unconditionally committed to restoring Law and Order. Bongaon Police District has been honoured with the prestigious SKOCH Gold Award 2025 in the category “Police & Safety” for the POLICE BANDHU App As you are aware, POLICE BANDHU is a first-of-its-kind, game-changing initiative in Indian policing, offering a single integrated platform for multiple stakeholders. Complainants can track the live status of their FIRs and provide feedback through their smartphones. To ensure inclusivity, POLICE BANDHU Kiosks have been installed at every police station for citizens in rural and remote areas who rely on basic mobile phones. Senior officers can issue instructions, monitor case progress, and track history-sheeters, absconders, warranties, and other rough elements through the application. During investigations, Investigating Officers can generate automated legal notices, significantly reducing time and field workload. System-generated crime patterns are helping the district police prevent crime and traffic accidents, while recent case laws and authentic legal information are available on the same platform. Citizens can also access bulletins and police alerts and share vital information related to crime prevention, all of which is closely monitored by senior officers. POLICE BANDHU has truly become a bridge between citizens and police, connecting all aspects of data-driven policing—from citizens and complainants to field officers and top brass—serving the purpose of transparent, trusted, and proactive policing with the motto of selfless public service. The implementation of this project has been highly effective, with overwhelming outcomes and an impressive response. The platform has enabled optimal utilisation of human resources and ensured the welfare of police personnel. Through scientific and strategic deployment of traffic personnel, along with continuous data monitoring and analysis, Bongaon Police District has achieved nearly a 50% reduction in fatal road accident deaths in 2025, which is among the highest reductions in the country. Under Project '𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐭𝐰𝐚', where senior officers were entrusted with accident-prone Gram Panchayats, and through focused enforcement under the '𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞' (𝐒𝐃𝐒𝐋) campaign, fatalities have been reduced by 48%. The number of deaths has come down from 106 in 2023 to 55 in 2025, owing to targeted interventions and proactive checks against over-speeding. Justice Delivered! Based on the complaint of a distressed mother, Kobera Khatun, on 06.09.2023, an FIR was lodged at Gopalnagar Police Station, reporting that her daughter Rahima Khatun had gone missing. She suspected her neighbours—Tarabanu Mondal and Bakibilla Mondal. With that complaint began an investigation that later revealed a sensational truth. The investigating officers followed every possible lead without pause. After months of relentless effort, a major breakthrough came in January 2024. The woman accused was arrested on 23rd January, and the next day her brother was also taken into custody. During interrogation, the horrifying truth emerged: Rahima, who once had a relationship with Bakibilla, was kidnapped and murdered when he lost interest. Her body was buried beneath the kitchen floor of the woman accused’s matrimonial home at Iswarigacha under Baduria PS. On 25th January 2024, police unearthed Rahima’s remains from beneath that very kitchen floor. Her identity was later confirmed through DNA testing, completing the chain of evidence. The careful and committed investigation by SI Santanu Mishra (1st IO), SI Dipankar Pal (2nd IO), under the continuous supervision of senior officers, ensured that every aspect of the case was meticulously documented for trial. As the case moved into court, the pursuit of justice entered its final phase. Shri Sanjoy Das, Ld. Special Public Prosecutor, guided the legal proceedings with precision, presenting the evidence with clarity and unwavering dedication. His strong and effective advocacy played a decisive role in securing the conviction. At last, justice prevailed. Ld. ADJ-I, Bongaon Court delivered the verdict on 14th November 2025. Both accused—Tarabanu and Bakibilla—were convicted for the brutal murder and sentenced to Rigorous Imprisonment for Life, along with fines under Section 302/34 read with 120B IPC, and additional imprisonment under Sections 201 and 365/34 IPC, with all sentences running concurrently. From a mother’s desperate plea… to the truth unearthed beneath a kitchen floor… to the firm voice of justice in the courtroom—this case stands as a testament to the unwavering resolve of Bongaon Police District.
