Subject: Urgent: GBA (East) to expedite RoW acquisition for SH-35 (Varthur Main Road) — enable completion of footpaths, drains, tree/shrub planting & garbage clearing
I am a resident of Varthur . This grievance concerns the SH-35 (Varthur Main Road) widening and associated drain/footpath works adjacent to our society.
Background: KRDCL confirmed partial drain work is done but permanent footpaths, tree-median/arboriculture and final works cannot proceed because the required Right-of-Way (RoW) parcels have not been acquired/handed over by GBA (East) / BBMP. An earlier grievance was forwarded to KRDCL but the current bottleneck is RoW acquisition. Construction debris and accumulated garbage are creating unsafe pedestrian conditions and preventing completion of permanent works.
Relief sought:
A. Publish the list of land parcels / survey numbers required for RoW on the SH-35 stretch and state current status for each parcel.
B. Provide a firm RoW availability timeline to enable KRDCL to complete footpaths and drains.
C. Nominate the officer (name, designation, contact) responsible for RoW acquisition and confirm a joint site meeting with a resident/RWA delegation and KRDCL.
D. Instruct KRDCL to publish a phased work schedule for permanent footpath, drain and planting works so residents can track progress.
E. Require an arboriculture plan (native species list, planting locations, spacing/protection, and maintenance commitment) integrated with construction.
F. Ensure removal of construction debris and regular street cleaning provide temporary covered bins and instruct contractors not to dump spoil on the RoW.
G. Provide a monitoring officer contact for weekly updates and acknowledge this grievance with an action plan.
Delays in RoW acquisition, lack of sanitation and no planting are creating hazards and preventing completion of durable streetscape improvements. Please forward this to GBA(East)
