Finally, we can have a British reject scolding people for having an opinion on a place they haven’t visited while he spouts opinions about places he hasn’t visited

Europeans can’t comprehend the beers you’ve imported from Europe ?
the European mind can't also comprehend the vast selection of Ales and Lagers. This is just one shelf dedicated to local beer. I can get beer from the UK, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Ireland, Brazil, etc in the same shop.

All this because Nick wrote about Israel's rape and sexual assault of men, women and children.
New: The NYT is reviewing Nick Kristof's columns after he failed to disclose ex donor ties in a series of columns. When Kristof returned to the paper after a failed bid for governor of Oregon, the NYT said he would disclose financial ties when writing about former donors.

Go meet a Palestinian who’s spent decades living under occupation. Listen to their story, hear what daily life is actually like for them.
I flew to Tel Aviv to make videos about the most interesting start ups in this city! Who should I meet?

Isn’t it a shame after all that posh schooling, poor old Zac still doesn’t know basic geography. The ‘homes’ they are buying are not in ‘Israel’. They are in illegal settlements.
Scary protests outside a synagogue today, against Jewish people buying homes in Israel… demonstrating exactly why Jewish people might want a home in the Jewish state

Suffragettes set fire to the Theatre Royal in Dublin during a packed matinee
Replying to @keewa
Suffragettes may have used tactics that weren’t peaceful but they didn’t align with or glorify groups using suicide bombings, stabbings, or calls for broader violence against civilians, as Palestine Action have done. That’s the main difference

Suddenly, this fraudulent blowhard feigns concern about congressional approval and a strict reading of the Constitution. Every day with this gang, it’s another betrayal of principle, another lie, another sophistry. The GOP has proven itself as unfit to govern as the Democrats.
Mark Levin seeks to undermine Trump's deal with Iran by insisting it should be a "treaty" that must be approved by two-thirds of the Senate. (Trump can launch the war without Congress but can't end it without them, according to Levin.)

Quietly highlighting that nearly all publications currently run on state payments, directly or indirectly. Like Phoenix or loathe it, the State were never going to pay for it.

When Garret was in his last years, I mentioned this directly to him after one of his talks on Irish finance. He blanked me. Either Garret knew nothing about the Collins autopsy, or he knew everything about it.

Pages 107/108 of Murphy’s book claims it was Desmond Fitzgerald a Minister in the Free State government who ordered the destruction of the files on Collins’ assassination in 1932.

The suffragettes *blew up* Lloyd George’s house! An indictment on how liberals remember history.
The Lady Chief Justice: Palestine Action was not a direct action civil disobedience protest group like the suffragettes, but used violence to destroy property The suffragettes burned down country houses & train stations, bombed churches & sent letter bombs to politicians.

I just saw this question in 2023's C19th 'History of the British Isles' Finals paper. "What impact did the Irish famine have on the rest of Britain?" You have to laugh, in the bleakest way possible.

The 50s were no less disastrous for the liturgy than the 60s.
Cover of a book by the highly influential liturgist Pius Parsch from 1952. The liturgy was an abstraction for them already represented by infantile art. #CatholicX The break came before the Council which gives an illusion of the hermeneutic of continuity.

BREAKING: Iran says the US has agreed to pay $300 billion in reconstruction funds directly to Iran as part of the deal Pakistan announced, alongside the release of $24 billion in frozen funds with $12 billion released before negotiations even start, per Mehr News. This directly contradicts Trump's & Vance's claim that no funds will be transferred to Iran at all. If Trump denies this is true, there never was a deal. If Trump confirms, the US has fully capitulated to Iran's demands.

There is lack of clarity for the reasons, or for the change of plan. For years we have been working towards integration, as recently as December providing all academic staff CVs to an outside company agreed by government, @dfheris @SETUIreland and @carlowcollege .

@CarlowCollege is being closed over two years, with all 87 staff being made redundant and all programmes wound down. Some of us will be made redundant immediately, some kept on a year by year basis. We still do not know who. Or what the workloads will be. This was not the plan.
