3 simple rules to eliminate gerrymandering: 1. Districts shall make absolute minimum aggregate splits of first, counties, and then, municipalities. 2. Except where required by (1), districts shall be maximally compact. 3. No other criteria shall be used.

SCOOP: California is pressuring public utilities to award $633 million in special contracts to "LGBT-owned" firms. To qualify, residents must go through the state's official gay-certification program—and face up to a year in jail if they're not gay enough. city-journal.org/article/cal…

In the alternative we could simply elect people who had the judgment not to tweet insane things less than five years ago.
"I certainly wouldn't use a lot of the language that I used back then today." Darializa Avila Chevalier joins Vox's Astead Herndon to talk about what she's learned since 2019 and 2020, why she deleted her account, and how she thinks about language and rhetoric in politics now.

The Dems midterm warning sign is pretty clear: There are high quality polls (Ipsos, MU Law, & NBC), which show Dems shy of their generic ballot benchmark in past wave years. Their Dems avg. lead is just 3 pts... & Dems need a 3-4 pt win to take the House given redistricting.

14 candidates endorsed by Gov. Joe Lombardo largely won in last week’s primaries, but there were some notable losses. His picks for Congressional District 2, secretary of state and Washoe County district attorney all fell short. Read more: thenevadaindependent.com/pre…

Why did Kemp makes such a moronic choice as Derek Dooley? I still haven't seen a good explanation of that. And sorry, but "he has consultants consistently giving him blowjobs telling him he has a shot at the 2028 GOP presidential nomination" is not a good explanation.
Brian Kemp’s political strength was already going to be tested in the Georgia runoffs. Then Trump made his move. Today will prove whether he can overcome a Trump endorsement in the Senate race and a firehose of cash in the race to succeed him. politico.com/news/2026/06/16…

My blood just ran cold. I told NO ONE in the media about Graham’s violence until the New York Times came to my home in April. I was never GOING to tell anyone. But HE knew what he had done. And now we know HE told people 7 months before I ever said a word. Because he knows what he did. Thank you, Nick, for helping me prove that Graham was worried I would tell the world what he’d done to me.
So here’s some insider baseball on Platner’s stuff. I knew about the Fifield abuse allegations last October when I was in Maine. I didn’t know who it was or the extend of it. All I knew is that he got violent with an ex and she was a Republican, I hinted at them here several times, saying that Mills campaign was trying to get her on the record but she, a couple of other women, didn’t want to talk. Mills campaign knew Fifield was a Republican and that she and others were holding on to their story until it was advantageous for the GOP (1)

The nomination of Al Qaeda front volunteer Adam Hamawy as the Democratic nominee in New Jersey's 12th Congressional district is less a story about one controversial candidate than a story about a Democratic Party that increasingly lacks a central authority capable of policing its own fringes. Where Republicans have a clear power center in President Trump that can reward, punish, and discipline candidates, Democrats have become a decentralized coalition of activists, interest groups, donors, and elected officials, making it harder to stop awful figures from advancing through primaries and reshaping the party from within. My latest for @CityJournal, with my @ManhattanInst colleague @Danielle_shap. city-journal.org/article/ada…

Truthfully, it's a little weird that it's going to be at least 48 hours and well after the deal is signed before anyone who isn't in the Trump administration sees it, so I can't tell you it's bad, I'm just sort of assuming that they'd be pretty willing to show us a good one.
Ah yes, I'm an IRGC spokesperson because I'm willing to say the deal is bad for the United States.

Daily Mail: A Trump-backed congressional candidate has been caught sending a former Miss Oklahoma USA a series of intimate text messages, prompting his wife to brand her a "home wrecking whore." Jackson Lahmeyer, 34, the Tulsa megachurch pastor whom Donald Trump anointed a 'MAGA Warrior' last month, faces a torrent of his own text messages obtained by the Daily Mail ahead of Oklahoma's 1st District Republican primary on Tuesday. dailymail.com/news/article-1…

High speed rail in a nutshell. An entire movement built on 25 year old nerds playing fantasy geography. Problem is when they suddenly get real money behind it.
Here is my proposal for a US High Speed Rail Network! A lot of research went into this map, and I tried to be as unbiased as possible. Thoughts?

The LA Recorder quietly released new precinct results as of 6/10, so let's map the results, starting with Skid Row and moving out: The 6/10 results are unofficial, but probably somewhat close to final, so I've compared them to the final Skid Row Mayoral Results in 2022. -Skid Row Votes are up 18% compared to 2022 final official -Overall LA Votes are up 28% compared to 2022 final official -Bass still won most Skid Row Precincts (I haven't computed the total SR numbers yet) -Thus, Skid Row's turnout increase is still less than LA's overall, and the number of votes there is very small.

I don't think Graham Platner actually "is a Nazi" - i.e., someone who supports the goals of the German NSDAP political party. I think he is a former alcoholic mercenary, who got one of the most famous Nazi symbols as a tattoo to show he is a "killer," and is currently struggling with giant infidelity and woman-abuse scandals. Watching lib-fem type friends passionately support him is thus, still, very funny.
