Big day for our @ClimateEngOrg team today — a relaunch of Climate Engine with a new website, support site, and YouTube channel! 🥳
As always, the App is free for non-commercial users and makes #EarthEngine cloud computing easy, so check it out! 🛰️

Hello World! We're ClimateEngine.org! Since 2016, the ClimateEngine.org App and API have supported government, non-profit, and tribal partners in leveraging #Climate and #RemoteSensing datasets and today we are doubling down on our mission.
Grassland and rangeland folks! We are seeking someone for our rangeland ecology Chair position. Full title OR at least 10 years experience outside of academia. LOTS of financial support: arizona.csod.com/ux/ats/care…
Work with me!!!!!!

The second video in "The Climate Engine Backpack" video series is now live! 🥳
Learn about "Producing near real-time #drought maps using the Climate Engine app" using #ERA5 to calculate SPI and SPEI for any location on the planet ☀️🌧️

Climate Engine uses @googleearth#EarthEngine to calculate numerical #drought indices, allowing users to determine which time period, statistical distribution, and input variables are used — this video walks you through those choices so you can get started!

These reports and the documentation have become a labor of love! 📄
We're hopeful that they will streamline advanced and insightful #remotesensing and #climate data to support a range of decision cases — especially by representing spatial variability🗺️ and trends📈

Today, we're introducing a new series called the "Climate Engine Backpack" where we "unpack" all the "equipment" you have available for your next data "adventure!"
Check out "Extracting satellite data for areas of interest using the Climate Engine app!"

Registration is open for the next cohort of the End-to-End Google #EarthEngine course. It's a 3-week hands-on intensive program that covers the full range of topics in #GEE. Check out the schedule, course content, and registration link at spatialthoughts.com/events/e…
Really exciting to see @geopandas 1.0 released!
Among a bunch of new features I'm most excited about native GeoArrow interoperability! Remember to pass use_arrow=True in geopandas.read_file for best performance!

(1/2) This is really exciting! AI-enabled code completions are now available in #Colab free-of-charge tier!
Autocomplete saves a bunch of time with #EarthEngine and #geemap boilerplate!
We've expanded the availability of ✨GenAI✨ in Colab (in eligible countries):
- AI-enabled code completions are now available for users in our free-of-charge tier!
- Workspace accounts now have access to all GenAI features!
Enjoy Gemini in Colab! 🦾🦾🦾
A huge milestone reached. Now there's truly no reason to not start to use it for everything. I remain a huge fan. And the spatial support continues to get stronger - in a few years I think this is going to be many people's go to tool for spatial analysis.
We are proud to release the first major version of DuckDB, v1.0.0, codenamed "Snow Duck".
This version is a culmination of almost six years of research and development. Today we are shipping an innovative database system with a backwards-compatible storage format.

Geo for Good Summit is on the move in 2024! Join us in São Paulo (Sept 9-12) or Dublin (Sept 23-26) to leverage #EarthEngine to advance science and solutions for planetary sustainability and human resilience. Learn more at earthoutreachonair.withgoogl…
Use VegDRI in Climate Engine to:
✅Map current conditions of vegetative drought
✅Assess multi-year trends
✅Pull timeseries data for areas of interest
✅Analyze VegDRI alongside dozens of climate and satellite datasets
🚨New dataset in Climate Engine🚨
The Vegetation Drought Response Index (VegDRI) is produced by @USGS & @DroughtCenter and depicts drought stress on vegetation within the conterminous US using #remotesensing and #climate data 🛰️
Learn about VegDRI here: support.climateengine.org/ar…
I'll be talking about the new VirtualiZarr package tomorrow!
If you've ever used kerchunk or converted a netCDF/grib file to @zarr_dev format you should come!
