Yesterday, I chaired a House Science Committee Environment Subcommittee hearing examining how the EPA can better align its scientific work with the real-world needs of its regulatory offices. More than 50 years after EPA was founded, environmental challenges, exposure routes and chemical transport have changed dramatically - and the agency’s research structure must keep pace. Through the new Office of Applied Science and Environmental Solutions, EPA has an opportunity to deliver timely, practical and sound science that strengthens decision-making and better protects human health and the environment. I look forward to seeing how this new office helps EPA advance research that is more responsive, efficient and grounded in real-world results.

Last night's Transportation and Housing bill included funding for aviation safety, ports, waterways, highways and border security, focusing resources on the transportation networks and infrastructure Americans rely on every day.
