For Earth Day 2026🌎, @SEEC hosted a “Federal Fire, Local Heat” emergency strategy session to convene members of Congress, climate leaders, organizers, & change-makers at the front lines of the climate fight. This is a key moment to align priorities in the midst of the Trump Administration's attacks on the health and well-being of our families, corrupt attempts to deliver for polluters over people, & blatant efforts to override American democracy. The ochre sea stars are making a comeback. Thank you to those who are working along the coast to protect and study the way different species have been affected by sea star wasting disease. An interesting read!⬇️ washingtonpost.com/nation/20…

After joining our Extreme Heat Roundtable yesterday, @Rep_Grijalva visited the Museum of Unnatural Disasters and rightly pointed out that climate change is devastating our communities and we need federal protections and investments that put #peopleoverpolluters.

Glyphosate is turning up in more and more places, including our forests and food supply. That should concern everyone. After troubling @MotherJones reporting on Forest Service spraying, @RepHuffman and I are demanding answers. Yesterday, I pressed @SecRollins directly: are we looking at the whole picture here?

Today, on World Environment Day, we are reminded that the actions we take today to protect our environment will help create a healthier, more sustainable future for all. That's why I am co-leading a letter to oppose @EPA's rescission of coal ash rules and working on legislation to strengthen the Clean Air Act. Throughout my career, I've supported the development of clean energy, fought pipelines through disadvantaged communities, and worked to hold polluters accountable.

Handing out $700 million to dirty, inefficient energy sources puts polluters first & Americans last in the midst of Trump’s self-inflicted energy crisis. This is a stunning abuse of taxpayer dollars & comes on top of Trump’s orders to keep aging coal plants online, which have already cost American families $336 million. All this will do is raise our bills, hurt our economy, make our air dirtier, & our communities sicker.

These scientists give me hope -- they marched 250 miles to the nation's capitol to defend research, scientific principles, and truth. The truth is: Trump's cuts to scientific research are going to cost in dollars, in lives, and in our future. I will continue to fight alongside my SEEC colleagues to stop the cuts, invest in research, and protect science.

The EPA's Office of Environmental Justice was founded in 1992 and has operated under both Democratic and Republican leadership because pollution does not recognize politics. Locally, I have worked with the Junction Coalition, Lake Erie Water Keepers, and community based groups to find solutions.

The Trump Administration wants to open California and Florida’s coastlines to offshore drilling for the first time in over 50 years. I offered an amendment to stop it. This is a direct threat to our national security. Every single U.S. Military Branch uses those waters, including off Camp Pendleton, for training and testing that is required before our troops can deploy. You cannot move an oil platform out of the way for a military exercise. The Trump Administration says this will lower gas prices, but it won’t. What it will do is jeopardize our national security, our waters, and our economies. This was never about lowering gas prices. It’s about selling our coastline to Big Oil.

Wildfires impact every community, which is why all levels of government need to work together to mitigate wildfire risks. Grateful that the House passed my bipartisan Cross-Boundary Wildfire Solutions Act, which does precisely that. We’ll keep pushing to get it across the finish line!

Today, @SEEC welcomed scientists who are fighting to protect U.S. climate & weather research from devastating federal funding cuts. These scientists marched 12-days, 250-miles to highlight how funding cuts, disinformation, mass firings, & grant terminations have impacted the health and well-being of our families and U.S. scientific leadership on the international stage.

This Administration failed in the Courts to try to block progress towards a clean energy future, so now they are attempting to bribe companies to stop building offshore wind projects. That’s why I joined my colleagues to demand an investigation into these $2 billion in payments to block offshore wind development, and I will continue to work in Congress to protect our environment for future generations and support the clean energy transition. spectrumlocalnews.com/nc/cha…

Trump and his vanity projects are completely out of control. This week, we learned he’s raiding NPS entrance fee revenue to help pay for his gilded, tacky vanity projects around DC. Meanwhile, parks like Acadia are facing real maintenance backlogs, which is exactly what that money is supposed to help fix. We mark up the Interior & Environment funding bill next week, and you can be damn sure @AppropsDems will be fighting back hard against this gross abuse of taxpayer dollars.

Returned to Paʻakea Road with Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation and the Navy to follow up on flooding near the dip in the road and continue working toward solutions for the community. We walked through the problem areas, discussed how to better manage the water draining into the roadway, and made sure residents’ concerns were heard directly by the partners involved. Mahalo to the community members who continue to raise concerns, share local knowledge, and help keep the focus on long-term fixes.

As we strive to achieve a successful renewable energy transition, we must ensure that the surrounding critical infrastructure is safe and strong. That’s why I introduced my bipartisan Better Energy Storage and Safety Act to bolster research and development around safe energy storage. I’ll continue to work across the aisle to provide secure and reliable energy for our communities in the 19th Congressional District and beyond. santacruzsentinel.com/2026/0…
