Excited to finally share our recent work, "Wall teichoic acids regulate peptidoglycan synthesis by paving cell wall microstructure", available now on bioRxiv! @TheRojasLabbiorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Lactate is an important substrate🍔for P. aeruginosa in infection sites. We show that PA’s “redundant” lactate dehydrogenases are used by different biofilm subpopulations and contribute to survival within macrophages🦠Great work by @Lindsey_Florek& collabs.doi.org/10.1128/mbio.00852-2…

Dear Twitter,
@maximohairwe made a really cool paper on how an instability (bifurcation) the fitness landscape of fungal hyphae leads to a strict constraint on their shapes!

And a shout-out to all bacteria and archaea cytosleleton folks - we want to grow in participation in the following years. I have only great interactions with our fungi and plant colleagues.
Very excited to advertise the Plant and Microbial Cytoskeleton GRC 2024: Functional diversity of the cytoskeleton. Co-organized with Alex Paredez, Sabine Müller and Alex Bisson @Archaeon_Alex
Great line-up of speakers!

Dear Twitter, Guy Mason (@Imnotyourguybud) made a very nice paper about how bacteria survive bacteriophage if you squish them!

🚨 Sunrise NYU just won divestment at New York University! This is a huge win for climate justice!
Congratulations to every student organizer who made this happen.

My first paper ever is live on biorxiv! We @TheRojasLab modeled all the shapes that are physically possible for a tip growing cell and compared those to what is observed in nature. Surprise! Not all possible shapes are occupied and a mechanical instability may govern this
New @bioRxiv preprint!
tinyurl.com/mr4yxsxb@Ying_Xie_ found that polysome collapse & mRNA condensation fluidizes the cytoplasm.
This helps assembly of another membraneless stress organelle: Q-bodies!
P-bodies and SGs tune the physical properties of the cytoplasm!
RT plz!
ALT optoPUM, a new optogenetic tool to drive mRNA condensation. Blue light turned on at t0.
Join us March 20 for NYU's annual Darwin Lecture! Featuring Carl Zimmer! This talk is open to the public but you have to register: eventbrite.com/e/2023-darwin…
