BRCA1/2 may be telling us a bigger story. A new ESMO Open study suggests that pathogenic BRCA1/2 variants may increase the risk of less common cancers beyond breast, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate cancer. Signals observed: BRCA1 → thyroid cancer BRCA2 → bladder, head & neck, and skin cancers The most striking finding: BRCA2-associated bladder cancer risk appeared particularly high in females.
