In other news, Andrew woke up this morning and thought "66 today - if only I'd made enough NI contributions to qualify for my State Pension I'd be getting it today, one of the very last to do so." #Alwaysapensionsangle

The WASPI women had 25 years to prepare for the pension age going up. Many incels and perverts are only finding out about the Online Safety Act today. Massive failure of government comms.

Happy Friday everyone! Got to celebrate with the #FinTwit legend and old colleague @PensionsDave because there's #AlwaysAPensionsAngle I also sadly learnt this week to check in on old mates, colleagues etc as you never know when they'll be gone. Take a moment this weekend.

So there have been barely any cases of tax legislation being struck down on ECHR grounds. The case most often cited is where Hungary imposed a 98% tax on the retirement income of a civil servant only two months before they retired. A pretty extreme case.

Elon Musk: "There's a limestone mine where we store all the retirement paperwork. You look at this picture of this mine, this mine looks like something out of the '50s because it was started in 1955. It's like a time warp. And then the limiting factor is the speed at which the mineshaft elevator can move ... "

The Andrew Gwynne affair seems to have something to do with pensions, as Michael Crick reports. Tameside runs the Greater Manchester local government scheme, the largest in the UK. The gov want it to invest for growth but local councillors differ. One for @henryhtapper I think.

Just remembered I heard this. Important point made that improved paternity pay can have a knock on to help mothers back to work and bridging gap for getting back to work and improved pension outcome. #alwaysapensionsangle
In My Opinion: “The UK needs to be more like the rest of Europe when it comes to paternity pay and leave.” Marvyn Harrison, from the Dad Shift, has attached life-size model babies in slings to statues of men across London, to focus attention on how paternity leave is falling behind. He says 1 in 3 fathers take no paternity leave at all. What do you think?

It'll be a wrench leaving pensions, as I've loved covering this topic & found it hugely rewarding. I've also made many friends along the way.  But I'm looking forward to a fresh reporting challenge. I expect pensions will still pop up though as there's #AlwaysAPensionsAngle 3/

Bellingham’s been very quiet. Thing is, he’s so mature for his age, he’s probably thinking about whether the pension triple lock can realistically hold, given the public finances.

#alwaysapensionsangle just saying Tory MPs popping up in pension funds. Let’s keep an eye out.
Don't feel sorry for rats jumping from a sinking ship. They'll be heading up your Bank, Post Office, Lottery, Arms manufacturer, pension fund by Autumn. Where they'll do even more damage. Tories gonna Tory.

3. The purpose of retirement is not to quit work. It’s to quit the type of work you have to do for money, so you can do whatever work you want and not need to stress about how much it pays.

@countbinface Suggesting we should ditch the triple lock for the double lock (actually a thing in our odd pensions world Count). I likes the injection of sanity at the end, much needed #alwaysapensionsangle #votebinface
At my London Mayor charity gig, I took questions from the wonderful audience. Like this one… #VoteBinface #BindependenceDay
