Every step tells a story, and Oreejoy Medtech Pvt Ltd is working to decode it. Rooted in research carried out at IITGN, the startup is currently developing wearable technology that could transform how movement and neurological disorders are diagnosed and monitored. Conventional gait-analysis technologies that study how people walk, maintain balance, and distribute body weight while moving, can cost as high as ₹75 lakhs and often require controlled environments, specialised infrastructure, and extensive manpower. Determined to make clinically reliable gait analysis more accessible, Oreejoy developed INSTROLE, a wearable ‘instrumented sole’ inspired by systems such as GaitRite and Vicon. Using lightweight printable electronics embedded within everyday footwear, their product effectively brings the ‘gait mat’ inside the shoe, capturing reliable walking and balance data through a portable, low-maintenance, and affordable solution designed for real-world Indian conditions. During pilot studies, the team witnessed a 75-year-old participant who initially struggled to walk independently, later returning saying he could confidently cross roads and visit the temple on his own. Moments like these highlighted how technology-driven rehabilitation could restore confidence and improve quality of life. Encouraged by such outcomes, and supported by the NIDHI PRAYAS grant and incubation at IITGN Research Park, the startup has expanded its clinical collaborations and research partnerships across the country, including with All India Institute of Medical Sciences, hospitals in Rajkot and Kolkata, and neurologists working in rehabilitation and Parkinson’s care. Today, Oreejoy envisions a future where monitoring walking and mobility becomes as routine as a blood test, enabling earlier diagnosis, rehabilitation, and preventive healthcare for millions. #IITGN_RnD_Horizon #ResearchAndDevelopment #RnD #StartupSuccessStories #IITGN #IITGNStartups #StartupIndia #MakeinIndia #MedTech #HealthTech #HealthcareInnovation #DigitalHealth #AIinHealthcare #DeepTech #PreventiveHealthcare #AssistiveTechnology #RehabilitationTechnology #ResearchToInnovation #InnovationIndia #LabToMarket @EduMinOfIndia | @IndiaDST | @ANRFIndia | @PIB_India
