This week started on a great note in Washington DC! My first series of meetings was with two visionary African leaders: H.E.
@RobieKakonge, Ambassador of Uganda to Washington D.C., and H.E.
@AmbMukantabana, Ambassador of Rwanda to the U.S.
Our conversations centered on the deep-rooted legacy and evolving impact of the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) in both
#Uganda and
#Rwanda. From protecting the iconic mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park to fostering community-led conservation in the Kidepo and Murchison Falls regions, our success has always been anchored in a close partnership with national governments and
#localcommunities.
Beyond sharing updates on our current programs, this was an invaluable opportunity to listen. Engaging with Africa’s diplomatic representatives is essential to ensuring our conservation strategies remain aligned with the continent’s broader
#development goals. We discussed how
@AWF_Official can continue to provide robust support and expand our collaborative efforts to ensure that Africa's unique natural heritage remains a cornerstone of its economic and ecological future.
Grateful for the insights and the shared commitment to advance conservation as a strong pillar for sustainable development in Africa.
