Powering Ontario, Safely
Boilers and pressure vessels (BPVs) are used in manufacturing, energy, commercial buildings, and institutional facilities. BPVs produce and distribute hot water, steam, compressed air and other compressed liquids and gases.
In Ontario, BPVs must have a certificate of inspection, be insured and undergo regular inspections. Most BPVs are periodically inspected by third‑party insurance inspectors, who must submit their inspection reports to TSSA. TSSA conducts periodic inspections of BPVs that are not inspected by insurance inspectors, and completed more than 1,500 of these in fiscal year 2025.
Over the past 10 years, there have been no injuries or fatalities reported related to boilers and pressure vessels.
