What does it take to put humans on Mars? 🔴 You need to head to Houston to help answer that. The 2026 Humans to the Moon and Mars Summit (H2M2) runs July 21 to 23 at Rice University in Houston, Texas, hosted there for the first time. H2M2 gathers leaders from NASA, industry, and academia to work on the hard questions behind our return to the Moon and the future crewed missions to Mars. One of those questions sits at the heart of ESCAPADE, NASA's twin-spacecraft mission studying the magnetosphere of Mars launched on Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket in November 2025. You can record video on your iPhone and upload it directly to YouTube or audio to Soundcloud or various podcast platforms - or stream things live - so that people outside the room can learn what went on. Or not. Just think what you could do if you made the effort to reach outside the space bubble. But you don't. Zero points for advocacy.

Look, either we keep exploring the Universe by forcing expensive one of a kind spacecraft through an eyedropper, or we expand human civilization off Earth. Once we have humans with an economy *anywhere*, we can go *everywhere*. The rising tide lifts all boats.

Here we go again @ExploreMars with the self-defeating Moon vs Mars space nerd food fight i.e. "How do we ensure the Moon is not the destination, but the proving ground for Mars?" Why can't the Moon be a "destination" Explore Mars? There are likely just as many scientists who study the Moon as there are studying Mars with lots of synergistic overlap in in between. Why can't we be looking at multiple off world locations to explore - each as viable destinations" in their own right? Due to proximity and basic characteristics there's a viable commercial component to the Moon as a destination. Mars, not so much (yet).
