Yesterday I gave a talk at the Developing Minds Global Lecture Series titled: “Developing Collective Minds: Symbol Emergence and Co-creative Learning via Collective Predictive Coding.” 🎥 YouTube recording: youtube.com/watch?v=mCsk-4_B… 🌐 Developing Minds series: sites.google.com/view/develo… In the talk, I introduced Collective Predictive Coding (CPC) as a computational theory that extends the Free Energy Principle to the societal level. CPC frames human–AI interaction as a process of decentralized Bayesian inference, where multiple agents—human and artificial—integrate their partial and heterogeneous observations through continuous interaction. うーん。難しいな。直感的には予測誤差の最適化でもないと思う。BPはBPであって、DAG制約もあるし、BPは美しいのだが、予測誤差最適化と断言できるかは分からない。PredictiveCodingも条件を加えるとBPと同等だが。むしろ広い。 私は更に口出し出来るような立場どころかレベルにさえ無いのだが。
わたしは口出しできるような立場ではありませんが、数学モデルに対する捉え方が固すぎるような気がしたので、一個人の感想を述べてみようと思います。 「脳は行列演算や活性化関数演算をしてない」というのはその通りですが、これは当然のことですよね。単に「脳内での情報処理活動を理想化したモデルが行列演算や微分方程式で記述できただけ」なわけですから。 BP に対する認識については「微分」に囚われすぎかなと思いました。BP は「予測誤差に基づく最適化」を勾配降下法で実装したものです。「予測誤差に基づく最適化」という点では、脳内でもドーパミン報酬予測の誤差に対する TD 学習が行われていると言われていて、これは BP と計算方法は違うけど「予測誤差に基づく最適化」としては同じですよね。
