When Obama bombed Libya, the justification was "humanitarian intervention." "Protection of civilians." "Responsibility to protect." The language of international law and moral obligation.
Libya was subsequently destroyed. It has open slave markets today. The humanitarian outcome was catastrophic.
But the language was immaculate. The syntax was perfect. The suits were pressed and the speeches were moving and the Nobel Peace Prize sat on the shelf while the drones flew.
Trump bombs things and says it's about the oil.
In terms of honesty, pure, raw, unmediated honesty about what American power actually does, Trump is more accurate than any of his predecessors.
This is not a defense of Trump.
This is an indictment of everyone who made the polished version seem acceptable.
The lie was always more dangerous than the liar currently in office.
Because the lie had good manners.

During the hegemonic era, security relied on dominance, or "peace through strength." There was no need for the West to understand the security concerns of its opponents, and diplomacy was replaced by ultimatums and threats. Western hegemony is now over, and the Political West must learn diplomacy again. As Hegseth demonstrates, the only plan is to strike Iran hard and hope that it will do as the US demands.

I can attest to the generous scholarships. 💯
The 2week course is more of a “conversation” of experts sharing info that welcomes participation.
Admittedly, the weeks leading to the course was a bit intimidating ..
fearing I wouldn’t know the topics … instead I learned in a way that surpassed usual classroom lectures I was used to.
IT’S FUN!
Loads of laughs w/the learning.
Also after each daily class,
an afternoon gathering of participants let us share and learn from each other.
GO FOR IT! You’ll be glad you did.
