Common criticism I hear is that crypto attracts subpar builders and suffers from an adverse selection since the best builders prefer to go down the web2 route and don’t struggle to raise traditional funding. I challenge this thinking. Smart people want to work in hard problems - and crypto has many of them. And smart people attract smart people. They also prefer to build on open source systems - a guarantee crypto provides unlike any other platform/network. Crypto is open source, has many unsolved problems, and deeply fascinating technology. More and more talented builders will continue to enter the space and that’s a bet I’ll take any day in size. While some builders are risk averse the career risk of entering crypto has gone down meaningfully over the years. It’s also becoming apparent the opportunity set to leverage the core infrastructure of open, permisionless, and immutable blockchains across many verticals. I’ve met many successful web2 teams fascinated by crypto and deciding to enter the space. That theme will continue to proliferate
