1. The Thatcher effect
It is a phenomenon describing the mind's inability to recognize facial problems when faces are turned upside down. (Turn the image around)
At a recent conference I was asked a question about what is different about the AI revolution vs. earlier technological ones.
I see a few differences: 🧵
The last thing I see is the difference in geos where human replacement rates are less than 2.1 (below this number, populations are dwindling with more older people than younger) where AI technologies will takeover from the lack of replacement workforce as it ages out.
In young population geos like India it creates an existential crisis when millions of young people beginning their 30-40 year career journey get replaced by AI this causing socio-economic issues over time due to lack of well paying jobs or careers ending at a younger age.
“Who is the competition and What should we be doing to overcome them to win customers over?”
This is arguably the wrong question to ask since getting overly obsessed over competitive offerings and chasing taillights may lead you to a suboptimal outcome. hbr.org/2017/05/obsess-over-…
