“Oh Balogun is just playing for the U.S. because he couldn’t make the England squad”…Folks, that is the entire promise of our nation. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. And then we’ll beat your ass with them.
THE FIRST MULTI-GOAL WORLD CUP GAME BY A USMNT PLAYER SINCE 1930 🤩 Have a night, Folarin Balogun 🔥

Anthony Bourdain wrote about this. This was his pitch for Parts Unknown. Trust me, read the whole thing.
So far this World Cup has been a great reminder that we make too many assumptions about one another, and that the vast majority of humanity is awesome. It's been pretty damn refreshing, honestly.

Can’t stop thinking about how Wall Street is celebrating Elon Musk becoming the world’s first trillionaire, while he single handedly eliminated humanitarian aid that will lead to the needless deaths of 4.5 million of the poorest children in the world in the next 4 years.

As somebody who has lived and worked in both South Korea and Mexico I can attest that both are incredible people and know how to have a good time.
one of my favorite thing about the world cup is there seems to always be a moment when the mexicans team up with the korean homies for some sort of good-spirited shenanigans 😂😂

The phenomenon of Europeans finding out that the vast majority of Americans are awesome and Americans welcoming Europeans is what the world needs right now
LOOK how I, as a Scottish guy in America for the World Cup, was welcomed to a Texas BBQ - okay sorry other BBQs but Texas takes the lead 🤩🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸

This is beautiful
Torcedores da Coreia do Sul foram jantar num bar no México e o estabelecimento colocou GANGNAM STYLE na TV e depois os mexicanos e os coreanos começaram a CANTAR e DANÇAR juntos! 🇲🇽🇰🇷

nothing says we're doing what's right for college football like "We got Ken Paxton on our side"
The office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sent a letter to the Big 12 on behalf of Texas Tech and obtained by @TheAthletic. It states that any sanctions against Texas Tech over the Brendan Sorsby situation would be treated as "unlawful" and would lead to legal action.

This is what my general election opponent thinks counts as "leadership" in Texas. The Texas Railroad Commission is a complex regulatory agency tasked with fixing our power grid, preventing toxic chemical leaks, and managing our state's water supply. It requires data-driven, serious management. Instead, Bo French uses his platform to fuel toxic division and stoke religious bigotry. Even top leaders in his own party have condemned this exact post and called for his resignation. Texas is an energy superpower. We deserve an experienced mechanical engineer on the job, not an internet troll who puts party politics and hate above the public.

Tragic news today: the eminent historian Gordon S. Wood was struck and killed while walking in the Shaw's plaza in East Providence, his family confirms to me. No comment from Brown yet Wood was just featured in Ken Burns' American Revolution documentary wpri.com/news/local-news/pro…

I see your profile picture. That’s Johnny Cash. My hero too. Arrested seven times. Smuggled 668 amphetamines across the Mexican border in 1965. Took every drug there was and drank like I did. Cheated on his first wife. Slept with more woman than I ever did. Hit bottom in a cave in Tennessee in 1968 trying to crawl off and die. And then he got up. He got clean. He spent the rest of his life singing for prisoners and addicts and the people the country threw away because he knew he was one of them. That was the whole point of the Man in Black. He wore it for the poor and the beaten down. He wore it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime. He wore it for the ones who never heard a word of Jesus. He wore it for the addicted and the dying. He wore it as a standing witness that no one is past saving. You picked his picture. You did not pick his message. Try listening to the words.

The Dallas Mavericks drafting Luka Doncic AND Jalen Brunson in the same draft AND not having either one of them now is generational incompetence.

All of these cuts could have been mitigated with an increase to basic allotment which has been stagnant since 2019.
Austin ISD released a more detailed budget cut proposal. It includes cuts to central office and campuses. Among the cut positions: -150 MS/HS staff -132 ES staff -22 counselors -11 librarians -11 assistant principals @cbsaustin

If the defensive staff had any chops they would’ve seen Billingsley stop and be coached by the starting RB for 20 seconds after everyone else left the sideline and known that’s where the ball was going
If we’re building a Mount Rushmore of movie 🎥 play calls, I-Right Wiggle, 34 Switchblade is a first-ballot selection.

This is an example of the information war. This person doesn’t live in America, but they say things that would make you think they do. Be cognizant that 90% of what you see on social media is designed to make you click or make you angry.
My house is fully paid off. No mortgage. No lender. No debt. Yet I still owe nearly $18,000 a year in property taxes, or the government can put a claim on it. This year I paid 38% in income taxes. Then sales taxes. Fuel taxes. Investment taxes. Fees buried in places most people never notice. The house is paid for, but I still make payments. I earn the money, but a large chunk never stays with me. At some point, you start wondering who really owns what and who’s actually working for whom.
