ICE detention standards are higher than Utah’s jails and prisons. 4. When I was running HB312 SLCo was very concerned about transferring federal detainees across county lines, but apparently that concern is only for criminals who happen to be US citizens and provide around $8 million in federal reimbursements to the county. I would say this lawsuit is just political theater, but the noncitizen criminals who have already been released on utah streets and the future victims they will create make it much more serious than that.
