Our new case report in Blood Cell Therapy: mononeuritis multiplex after cilta-cel, with CAR T-cells found directly in nerve tissue. We did not detect BCMA expression in the nerve tissue. Recovery required MNM-style immunosuppression.

A cutting-edge large language model outperformed human doctors in common clinical reasoning tasks including emergency room decisions, identifying likely diagnoses, and choosing next steps in management, according to a new Science study that used real emergency department data.
The authors of the study are clear that their results do not mean AI systems are ready to practice medicine on their own, or that doctors can be removed from the diagnostic process.
The results do, however, raise urgent questions about the future evaluation and implementation of AI tools in clinical care.

We have to revise how CART cell therapy is approved. Regulating it as a drug impedes progress. There are amazing innovations in CART cell therapy being developed that enhance efficacy, reduces delays, and greatly lowers cost. With a revised regulatory approach, patients can benefit greatly.
I wrote a white paper on this and we were discussing this with leaders at the FDA, before the leadership changed. Some elements of the proposal are based on this article we wrote in 2019. @statnews
Other countries are already taking the lead.
