On this day in 1777, the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution declaring the creation and design of the U.S. flag. It proclaimed “that the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation." May the flag forever wave over our nation, proudly protected by Veterans who have bravely fought for our freedom.

Today, we attended the Falklands Memorial Day service in Portsmouth to remember those who served and sacrificed during the Falklands conflict. We honour their courage, dedication and enduring legacy. We will remember them.

A must watch is @AlistairCarns suddenly finding the courage to say what he should have admitted to the NI Veteran community whilst he was the Armed Forces minister, concerning the Troubles Bill. It has always been obvious that the appeasing Bill was enabling Sinn/Fein IRA to rewrite history after their defeat. Now we have the spectacle of @DanJarvisMBE a former @TheParachuteReg officer accepting the post of Defence Secretary, most probably with exactly the same opinion as Mr Carns! An example of party and ambition before country? Another @UKLabour Veteran MP, @CalvinBailey joins the Defence team- another MP hiding his real views? When are the other Labour Veteran MPs going to stand up and be counted?
