The hippocampus plays a central role in learning, memory, emotional regulation, and cognitive flexibility. Despite significant advances in understanding long-term potentiation and long-term depression, critical questions remain regarding the molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate neuroplasticity in both healthy and diseased brains.
This Special Issue focuses on emerging research into hippocampal signal transduction and plasticity, including adult neurogenesis, integration of newborn neurons into neural circuits, neuron–glia interactions, epigenetic regulation, dendritic remodeling, spine dynamics, stress-induced neuroplastic changes, and disease-associated alterations observed in Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety disorders.
✨ We welcome submissions that advance our understanding of how hippocampal signaling pathways shape cognition, emotion, and brain health, while supporting the development of future therapeutic strategies.
