🪑 Sitting Too Much Could Be Silently Hurting You. Modern lifestyles often keep us seated for hours, but prolonged sitting can have a real impact on your health. Research suggests that excessive sedentary time may contribute to: ✔ Poor posture and back, neck, and shoulder discomfort ✔ Slower metabolism and weight gain ✔ Increased risk of high blood pressure and heart disease ✔ Reduced insulin sensitivity and higher blood sugar levels The good news? Small changes can make a difference. Stand up, stretch, and take a short walk every 30–60 minutes to help keep your body active. 📩 For enquiries: connect@medigear.uk #MediGear #HealthyLiving #MoveMore #SedentaryLifestyle #WorkplaceWellness #PostureMatters #HeartHealth #MetabolicHealth

🩵 Diabetes Week (8–14 June) highlights the importance of understanding diabetes and the benefits of staying active. Being physically active can help your body use insulin better, support blood sugar levels, improve overall health and boost both physical and mental wellbeing. It doesn’t have to be intense - walking, swimming, cycling, gentle stretches or even small bursts of movement at home all make a difference. Starting small, like a 10-minute walk or breaking up time sitting down, is a great place to begin. #DiabetesWeek #GetActive #Wellbeing #MoveMore @DiabetesUK @undefeatable @Sport_England Edited · 1 d

I saw this quote and thought, " Wow", I like that. Then I looked up Cicero and realised that he was alive from 106BC to 43BC. Why, in 2026, are we still ignoring the benefits of a body that is moved often? #thoughtfulthursday #physio #exerciseismedicine #movemore

As a 54yo Gen X vet, we grew up forced outside—playing sports, running around, church/kid clubs. It built mind, body & soul. Then late '90s/early 2000s: "Just walk 10k steps or do housework. Rigorous exercise? Optional." Fitness trackers, body positivity pushed "obesity is healthy." Relax & love yourself. We knew better. New studies prove it: 1 min vigorous activity (playing with kids, sports, intense efforts) = 4-9 min or more of moderate (or way more light). Huge drops in cancer, diabetes, heart disease, dementia risks. Old advice relied on questionnaires, not real outcomes. Exploding chronic disease rates showed the failure. Any movement helps (get those steps!) but we need to push kids (and ourselves) back to real play & rigor. Lives depend on it. #GenX #MoveMore #HealthTruth
