Birth anniversary of Jagadish Chandra Bose, who is a personal hero. Not just because he was a formidable scientist who did path breaking working on microwave radio optics, not just because he was also a pioneering science fiction author with Niruddesher Kahini, not just because he proved that plants had feelings, but mostly because he was one of the foremost exponents in that favourite Bengali pastime - the adda.
As a pioneering member of the Kham Kheyali (my closest translation would be whimsical) group, started by Tagore and featuring the likes of author Sarat Chandra, Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, musician Atul Prasad Sen, DL Roy and Radhikanath Goswami, he was a supreme raconteur, and the evening sessions of the group were the stuff of legends.
Super bright guy who also liked to while the evening away, chatting about life, the universe and everything. What's not to love!
