AFENET, in collaboration with the Uganda Ministry of Health – UNEPI, is piloting an Online Learning Curriculum on Immunization Data Triangulation from 12–13 March 2026 in Namanve, Uganda. The curriculum is designed to strengthen the capacity of district immunization and Vaccine-Preventable Disease (VPD) surveillance managers to analyze and triangulate multiple data sources to improve immunization programme planning, strengthen decision-making, and support the prevention of polio, measles, and other VPD outbreaks. Through practical e-learning modules, discussions, and feedback sessions, participants are enhancing their ability to use data to identify under-immunized populations, detect programme gaps, and strengthen immunization performance at national and subnational levels. The Uganda workshop is part of a global pilot to test and refine the curriculum before wider rollout. Findings from the pilot will inform improvements to the course ahead of its broader implementation. Honoured to speak at the #ClimateSummit2025 at @KSGKenya on one of the defining challenges of our time — building effective climate governance systems that are driven by science, grounded in community realities, and coordinated across institutions. Climate change has evolved beyond an environmental concern. It is a governance and development challenge that demands integrated systems — where research, institutions, and communities operate in one continuous feedback loop. At @TardaKE, our mandate extends across 19 counties and 40% of Kenya’s landmass — a region where climate realities are lived daily. From our basin-based coordination work, several lessons stand out: ✅ Science must translate to action. Research should not end in publications — it must shape planning, investment, and implementation at both county and national levels. ✅ Data must be standardized. Fragmented datasets and misaligned planning cycles weaken our collective response. ✅ Communities must lead. Participation cannot be tokenistic. Climate action thrives when citizens are co-designers of solutions, not just consultees. ✅ Institutions must coordinate. Basin-wide collaboration is essential where resources cross administrative boundaries — because rivers do not follow county lines. To build climate resilience, Kenya needs climate intelligence systems that connect data, people, and policy — systems that turn knowledge into governance and governance into action.
