⚽ Almost 3.5 billion people will watch as the FIFA World Cup kicks off this Thursday. Almost none of the spectators have any say in how the teams they love are actually run. So here’s the question worth asking during football’s biggest month: 📍What if Football was governed via a DAO on a #Blockchain? 🌐 What happens when fans are treated as participants in Football, not merely spectators? ✍🏽 A study in the Journal of The British Blockchain Association (#JBBA) put Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (#DAOs) to the test as a governance model for football. Worth a read as the tournament begins. Research from BBA's Centre for Evidence Based Blockchain (#CEBB) member, Marco Peirera. JBBA Editor in Chief: Prof. @DrNaseemNaqvi MBE FBBA. #Blockchain #DAO #FootballGovernance #WorldCup2026 #EvidenceBasedBlockchain #JBBA #SportsTech

🌐 Yesterday was International Workers’ Day. Do you have the Labour Market data for Blockchain workforce? ➡️ Do you know how many people work for Decentralised Autonomous Organisations?? ➡️ Do you know what they earn? ➡️ Do you know that only 11% are women? The evidence from The JBBA research, is sobering: ✅ 81% earn less than $5,000 per month ✅ 50% do not rely on DAO income at all ✅ 63% depend on health insurance from a traditional employer or family plan ✅ Only 11% are women. 🌍 DAOs are the frontier of blockchain-based organisation: locationless, pseudonymous, borderless. They are quietly redefining what work means in the digital age. Even after International Workers’ Day, the call is clear: build a decentralised economy that works for everyone, not just the few. #InternationalWorkersDay #DAO #FutureOfWork #Blockchain #JBBA #EvidenceBasedBlockchain

🌍 Today is Earth Day. This year’s theme, ‘Our Power, Our Planet’, highlights the difference we can make when we work together. 📚 Since 2018, the BBA has championed the role of blockchain in tackling some of the defining environmental challenges of our time — climate change, green finance, carbon markets, and ecosystem accountability. Our position has remained consistent: ➡️ Net zero commitments must be provable, not merely asserted. ➡️ Carbon credits must be verifiable, not double-counted. ➡️ Climate finance must be traceable, not lost in institutional friction. 🔗 Blockchain is the convergent infrastructure that makes all three possible — immutable provenance, continuous auditability, and programmable disbursement of climate funds. ✍🏽 The JBBA has published peer-reviewed evidence on carbon markets, supply-chain traceability, blue economy tokenisation, and ESG reporting. Our parliamentary engagement continues to place these questions at the centre of the UK’s climate and technology policy conversation. 🌍 The planet does not need more pledges. It needs better infrastructure for the pledges we have already made. ⏩⏩ Swipe to learn more about our work 👇 #EarthDay #OurPowerOurPlanet #BBA #JBBA #Blockchain #EvidenceBasedBlockchain #GreenFinance #NetZero #ClimateAction

"Increased trust" is a very vague KPI. It is not a measurable metric without defined benchmarks. When you say #blockchain "increased trust", you must quantify how exactly. For example, in terms of cost savings, etc. #Trust #Web3 #JBBA #EvidenceBasedBlockchain

📍An AI Philosophy and Cognitive Sovereignty Framework ✍🏽 New ground-breaking essay from Prof. @DrNaseemNaqvi MBE FBBA, published in The #JBBA. ➡️ Key explorations: ✅ Why cognitive sovereignty belongs on the national policy agenda alongside economic and data sovereignty ✅ Why our national strategies are failing to protect faculties such as pre-observational judgement ✅ What machines cannot do, and the coming scarcity of original thinkers and philosophers ✅ Why the machines will eventually come to philosophers for the questions their own logic cannot answer ✅ Why original writers, speakers, and thinkers will be indispensable in the age of synthetic prose ✅ Why the next generation of universities will quietly divide in two, and why PhDs will matter again ✅ The architecture of education, and why we are optimising for the wrong metric ✅ Why pedigree cannot be synthesised. AI will not produce more philosophers. Only philosophers produce more philosophers. ⏩ The essay introduces a new concept: Pre-observational Judgement The capacity to decide what is worth noticing BEFORE any data exists. It is the oldest form of human intelligence, and the one most resistant to automation. ⛓️‍💥 The essay also repositions blockchain as an epistemological tool. Original thought is fragile. An economy that cannot reliably say who first said what will watch its best minds either give up or leave. AI produces plausible answers without origin. Blockchain records origin without distortion. 🏛️ A national AI policy without a national philosophy policy is half a strategy. 🔗 Link to the full essay in the comments. #AI #Blockchain #Cognitive #Sovereignty #PreObservationalJudgement #EvidenceBasedBlockchain #JBBA #BBA #AIneedsBlockchain

🇬🇧 Treasury and FCA Give Evidence to Lords Financial Services Committee on UK #Stablecoin Framework 🏛️ On 15 April, the @UKHouseofLords Financial Services Regulation Committee heard oral evidence from @LucyRigby, Economic Secretary to @hmtreasury and David Geale and Matthew Long, both Directors at the @TheFCA — as part of its ongoing inquiry into the growth and regulation of #stablecoins in the UK. 📍Key themes included the Government’s pro-innovation stance on digital assets, the push to integrate stablecoins into regulated payment chains, the debate around holding limits and financial stability risks, and the case for a GBP-denominated stablecoin. 🏛️ The BBA continues to monitor parliamentary scrutiny of the UK’s digital asset regulatory framework closely. ✍🏽 Attached is a summary of both sessions, produced by the BBA Advisory Board member, @Lewis1Rogers1. 📍Earlier this year, BBA submitted its comprehensive response to @bankofengland's Stablecoin Consultation: lnkd.in/eDeJRDey ------------ Established in 2017, BBA is the UK's longest standing industry body advancing evidence-based adoption of Blockchain and Digital Asset Technologies. The BBA is also the Secretariat of the @APPGBlock. #BBA #Blockchain #Stablecoins #DigitalAssets #EvidenceBasedBlockchain #UKPolicy #Regulation

🇬🇧 Yesterday, the BBA delivered an exclusive Blockchain Masterclass for #MPs, #Lords, and members of the @APPGBlock. 🏛️ Most politicians think about the next election. The best think about the next generation. Blockchain and digital assets are the defining technologies of that generation. ➡️ Fewer than 5% of UK parliamentarians have publicly spoken or engaged on blockchain or digital asset technologies in Parliament, according to the latest research conducted by the BBA. 🎤 The workshop was delivered and coordinated by BBA President, @DrNaseemNaqvi. #BBA #JBBA #Blockchain #EvidenceBasedBlockchain #APPG #Policymakers #UK #Economy #Crypto

📋 The BBA wrote to the Economic Secretary to the Treasury in December 2025 raising evidence-based concerns about a proposed ban on cryptocurrency political donations. On 25 March 2026, the Rycroft Review was published and the Government announced an immediate moratorium on cryptoassets as a form of political financing, to be brought forward as an amendment to the Representation of the People Bill. The BBA respects the government’s obligation to protect democratic integrity. Philip Rycroft himself stopped short of calling for a permanent ban, framing the moratorium as a pause for regulation to catch up with reality. That is an important distinction. We continue to hold the position set out in our December letter: Blockchain ledgers are permanent, immutable and publicly auditable. The evidence consistently shows that illicit activity accounts for well under 1% of on-chain transaction volume. In most respects, cryptocurrency is more traceable than cash, not less. There is also a policy coherence question that has not been sufficiently addressed. The UK is simultaneously progressing stablecoin regulation as a recognised payment method. If regulated #stablecoins are fit for commerce, payroll, and financial services, the case for treating them as uniquely dangerous in political finance requires more rigorous evidential justification than has yet been offered. The BBA’s position remains constructive: strengthen know-your-donor obligations uniformly across all payment methods, mandate on-chain disclosure of political party receiving wallets, and invest in blockchain forensics capability at the Electoral Commission. These are targeted, proportionate measures that address the legitimate concern without a technology-specific prohibition. The Rycroft Review itself indicates that if regulated properly, crypto donation activity could continue under close supervision from the Electoral Commission. That is the outcome the BBA will continue to advocate for. We look forward to engaging with the Representation of the People Bill as it progresses through Parliament. #BBA #Blockchain #Crypto #UKPolicy #EvidenceBasedBlockchain #DigitalAssets #RycroftReview

📍 “The most practical thing we can do is to close the gap between what blockchain can demonstrably do and what decision-makers understand it to do. Policymakers do not need more enthusiasm about blockchain — they need evidence and case studies they can act on. That is what we bring.” — Prof. @DrNaseemNaqvi MBE FBBA Conference Chair & BBA President 📑 We are delighted to share the Official Conference Proceedings & Summary Report from #ISC2026 — the BBA’s 8th Blockchain International Scientific Conference. 🏛️ A historic first: the first international scientific conference on blockchain and digital assets ever hosted inside the UK parliamentary estate (Attlee Suite, Portcullis House, 27 March 2026). 🌐 ISC2026 brought together researchers, policymakers, regulators and #industry leaders from six continents for peer-reviewed abstract presentations, #keynote addresses, high-level #panels on the future of cryptoassets in the UK, Fellowship awards, and real dialogue between #science and #policy. 📚 The report captures the research, #debates, and cross-cutting themes that will shape blockchain governance for years to come — #AI convergence, #quantum preparedness, regulatory alignment, #governance-first approaches, and evidence-based adoption. ➡️ Some abstracts are already published in the JBBA, with more coming soon. #ISC2026 #BBA #JBBA #Blockchain #EvidenceBasedBlockchain #DigitalAssets #UKParliament #CryptoRegulation #EvidenceBasedPolicy
