Moving from Capacity to Capability: Strengthening Pandemic Preparedness Together !!
The recent Asia-Pacific Regional Summit by Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness (
#CEPI) Innovations brought together over 120 leaders across regulators, industry, academia, and public health to advance a shared goal, i.e. ‘Building a resilient, ready-to-activate ecosystem for future public health emergencies.’ In collaboration with
#WHO,
#ICMR,
#NITIAayog,
#DBTBIRAC,
#CDSCO #FDAIndia #MoHFW and other key stakeholders, the discussions reinforced a powerful message:
Preparedness is built in Peacetime - through trust, alignment, and collaboration, and NOT during a crisis.
At Gennova Biopharmaceuticals, we were proud to participate in this important dialogue and contribute to the shared vision of accelerating vaccine development and ensuring equitable access.
The summit underscored that true preparedness lies in a connected ecosystem where regulators, researchers, and industry work as one.
Key themes that emerged:
1. Science-based regulatory flexibility when traditional trials are not feasible
2. Early and continuous engagement for innovative evidence generation
3. Regulatory reliance, convergence, and work-sharing for faster decisions
4. Strengthened post-licensure commitments to ensure safety and effectiveness
The Asia-Pacific region showcased its unique strengths - scientific depth, manufacturing scale, regulatory maturity, and outbreak experience, while emphasizing the need to translate these into integrated, actionable capabilities. From diseases like
#Nipah,
#Chikungunya, and
#Mpox to future unknown threats, the focus is very clear:
Co-create frameworks today to enable faster, trusted responses tomorrow.
The path forward is collaborative, capability-driven, and rooted in shared responsibility.
