FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
21 LIVES LOST: HOTEL OWNERS ALONE MUST NOT BE MADE SCAPEGOATS
Erring Government Officials Must Also Be Investigated and Prosecuted: Dr. Anthony Raju
New Delhi
Expressing deep shock over the tragic fire at Hotel Flourish Stays, Malviya Nagar, which claimed 21 lives, Dr. Anthony Raju, Advocate Supreme Court, Chairman AICHLS and Founder NCNB, has demanded a fair, independent, and time-bound inquiry into the incident.
Dr. Raju stated that accountability cannot stop with the hotel management alone. The role of Fire Department officials, MCD authorities, licensing authorities, and all other concerned public servants must also be thoroughly investigated.
"If inspections were conducted, licences were granted, and safety clearances were issued, then the public has a right to know who failed in their duty. Hotel owners alone must not become scapegoats while erring government officials escape accountability."
Dr. Anthony Raju has demanded the constitution of an Independent Inquiry Committee headed by a Retired Delhi High Court Judge or a Former CBI Director to ensure transparency and public confidence.
"Every person responsible for this tragedy—whether a private individual or a public official—must face the full force of law. Human lives cannot be lost due to negligence, corruption, or administrative failure."
The inquiry must examine the role of all concerned departments, including the Fire Department, MCD, licensing authorities, and any officials who may have ignored violations or failed to enforce safety norms.
